a bird in the hand
in through window flew indoors
freed to fly again

startling

a wave of starlings
loud whirring wings overheard 
overhead, startling

flyers

the famous Red Arrows formation display team
despite what you think, well, they’re not quite what they seem
the hangar they sweep through is not built for flyers
the shoppers are safe from the models on wires

daybreak breakfast

thick mist greets daybreak
slice up the fog, take a bite
autumnal breakfast

fall

tree shivering breeze
leaves cling resolutely but
they will fall, and freeze

lilies

blue sky peeping through
clouds of sleeping lily pads
on limpid surface

site’s ignoble fate
wizard’s influence replaced
by man’s effluent

slow striding across landscapes
